CHAPTER 2
"What?"
I said.
"I'm blanking."
She sighed, and repeated herself.
"You should be a Jedi."
I shook my head. Reyjin cocked her head to a side.
"Why not?"
She asked. I sighed. She was determined.
"For one, I don't want to be a Jedi. I've got a life here!"
Reyjin snorted.
"Some life. People tracking you down all the time."
I was mad. This was my life. I wasn't a easy-going Temple girl.
"Reyjin, would the Jedi accept me? For all they know, I'm a Bounty Hunter who's asking to be a Jedi. Does it make sense for them to suddenly just say sure? Also, I don't know how to use a lightsabor. And I'm probably too old."
Reyjin lifted her chin decidedly.
"I'll get you in."
I frowned. I did want to leave this swamp world. I thought a little while, then relented.
"Alright, I'll go. But, how do we get there?"
I asked, not really wanting to ride on her lap all the way to the Temple, or vice versa. Or be crammed under her consul. Reyjin nodded at my home.
"From what I heard, there's a certain girl around here with a ship she made herself."
I chuckled.
"Yeah, right. How is that 'certain girl' going to fly her ship? Seems that a certain Jedi destroyed her ship's engine."
I tried to say this with a straight face, and I almost succeeded. But then I met my sister's eyes, and we both burst out laughing. Reyjin caught her breath.
"Is your ship big enough for both of us?"
I nodded slowly.
"Great! I'll just call my astromach, R12-N3, and tell it to bring my fighter down. I'll bet we could use my engine to repair yours."
I was excited with idea. I had always wanted to look inside a Jedi Interceptor engine, but never had had the chance. Now I could. I gave Reyjin a quick nod, trying to contain my excitement.
"OK, I'll go call R12."
She walked a few feet away. Pulling out her comlink, she stared talking to her droid quietly, but after a few minuets, they were arguing loudly.
"R12, it's not your business to listen in on other people's conversations! Get the ship and get down here! R12....R12....OH MY GOODNESS R12!!!! No she is not going to steal you! R12, I'm getting images of leaving you behind.... OK, that's just rude! Would you shut up and get down here? Thank you!"
Reyjin came back over. I snickered.
"Had some trouble with your droid?"
I asked. She acted super surprised.
"Really? Trouble? I don't think so!"
Then she shook her head.
"He really is a pain, but Master Oomaron won't let me get a different one."
My sister glanced up a rise.
"And here he comes with my ship now."
I suddenly felt a little uneasy. I had to tell her about my Kyber crystal. Reyjin was quiet a moment after I told her. Then she shrugged.
"Well, they were already dead, right? Their crystals weren't very much use anymore."
Once R12 arrived (which took a while), we fixed my engine pretty quickly. R12 didn't get along very well with G8H2Z (GAHZ), my droid I built, but they tolerated each other. In a few minuets, we were on our way to Courasant. To the Temple.
"Ready or not, Master Windu, here we come!"
Reyjin said under her breath as we took off. Just before we went into lightspeed, I took one last look at Dagobah.
"Good-bye."
I whispered. Then I made the jump.
