I don't even know what to ramble about right now... I could continue my rants about Star Wars, but I don't want to scare everyone away when I get into fire mode about how Episode 8 could have been so much better...
(If y'all ever think of something you want me to rant about, pop it in the comments and I will do so next Random Ramblings post.)
Maybe I can just ramble about being tired?
...
Maybe I'll talk about my opinions regarding the Bad Batch since Season 3 is coming out in the next few weeks... Yeah, that sounds good. I did a whole spiel about Rebels when Ahsoka was coming out, let's do a spiel about Bad Batch before Bad Batch comes out also we're not going to talk about how i typoed "batch" as "bath" thankfully i noticed before posting this.
THERE WILL BE SPOILERS AHEAD FOR BAD BATCH, CLONE WARS, AND PROBABLY ALL THE OTHER SHOWS. BE WARNED.
Okay, so I've heard several people get upset about BB seasons 1 and 2 because they've said it's basically just continuing Clone Wars and making as many cameos for the characters from their other shows. I have no problems with either of those things. (I guess I'm gonna make this post all about the cameos....)
In Rebels, plenty of people wonder how Hera's side of the rebellion started out, why she had such a rocky relationship with her father, etcetera. I enjoyed her arc, even if it really was just there for the Rebels fans. No one else knew little green twi'lek who dreamed of flying, and even less cared about the maniacal orange bucket that followed her everywhere. Most people who haven't seen Rebels probably don't care. HOWEVER I liked that it gave a little background on Hera's childhood and showed her parents a little more. It might be that, as a Rebels fan, I am a bit biased, but that's my humble opinion.
Plenty of people wonder how Kanan survived Order 66 (unless they read the comics/legends, although how it happened there is entirely different than the new canon). Same as Hera, there could be plenty of people who don't care about this little child with a rat tail hanging from his head and his stoic master. Many don't even know that Caleb Dume is Kanan Jarrus (sorry if I just radicalized everything you know. it's not like it's a big spoiler?). I feel like if you look at it as just BB without thinking about Rebels as well, it's just showing another side of Order 66. Most of what you see in the other movies/shows is all these great Knights and Masters and Younglings getting cut down. Well, here's a different side. There were some Jedi who survived, and not all of them were perfect heroes. Some just turned and ran. It happens. So, even without thinking about the fact that young Caleb = Kanan, I liked that opening to the series, because it just really showed more of Order 66 that isn't emphasized.
An odd thing that confuses people that know I don't like the Mandalorian is that I actually didn't mind that Fennec Shand was brought into the thick of things. In such a large galaxy, it makes sense that there're bounty hunters we haven't met before, but it is so satisfying for those who've seen the whole extended everything to say, "hey, there's that bounty hunter who went after the Bad Batch! She's back! She's awesome! She's taking on Mando!" Especially since Shand seems to become a good guy? (i haven't seen Book of Boba Fett, by the way, so if i'm totally off on who she is, please don't get mad) The thing I think Mando did the worst was showing exactly how the seeming "baddies" suddenly decided to turn good (and don't say it's because smol cute child because it doesn't work like that), so I appreciate that there's a few moments in BB where we get to see that Fennec Shand actually has at least a sliver of a heart.
Next cameo up is GREGOR the clone. Oh boy, Gregor is... something else. He first appeared in CW with amnesia, having so idea he was even a soldier. That arc ended with him blowing himself and a platoon of battle droids into smithereens. AND THEN SOMEHOW HE SURVIVED FOR REBELS??? I heard Gregor was returning, and I thought, "yay, finally an explanation." Nup. No explantion other than "I once blew myself up and was fine. I can get shot through the LITERAL HEART and be fine too. ehHehHehehhh." Gregor's cameo was the one and only that makes me mad, since that arc felt like it was only a setup to get Hunter captured and they threw him in there to make CW/Rebels fans happy, and it didn't really work... SERIOUSLY FILONI HOW DID HE SURVIVE.
Anyways, next up is Rex. His episodes were really good. I like that it's hinted at a couple times beforehand, and I like that it isn't just there for fan happiness. The Batchers still had their chips, and someone needed to remind them of that. I'm not going to say much more about him, because I thought it worked well.
THE MARTEZ SISTERS. Okay, answer me honestly, does anyone ACTUALLY like Trace and Rafa? There was NO NEED for them to be there. They are IDIOTS and WHY did they have to EXIST again??? Like, literally. They are idiots. There were HUNDREDS of other people who the Batchers could have run into that could connected the Batchers to Rex. It did not have to be the Idiots². I literally don't have anything good to say about them. Omega loves them but Omega loves everyone. That whole episode... it was not needed. Please. WHY.
Cut Lawquane. To be honest, I did not know that the episode in CW where Cut first shows up even existed until after watching his epsiode in BB. I watched it afterwards. Cut is EPIC. HIS WIFE IS EPIC. HIS CHILDREN ARE OMEGA'S BESTIES. Yes. #giveOmegaOtherChildFriends
GUNGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. In BB s2, we see Gungi the Wookie. Once more, that episode itself was a little... meh, but the fact that GUNGI SURVIVED makes it worth it. Anyone who watched the Gathering arc in CW knows the adorable baby Wookie Gungi. And when you realize that, um, they were still children at the end of the war and, um, there was something called Order 66 that killed all the Jedi, and not just the men but the women and the CHILDREN too. BUT GUNGI SURVIVED AND HE'S STILL JEDIing AROUND. That in and of itself made my heart happy. (also Omega, yes keep meditating, become a Jedi my child)
And for the last one I can think of, Cad Bane. Cad Bane's been popping up all over the place. A lot of people are like, but he was bested so easily by a smol child. Well, Omega's probably 12-14 and she's living with soldiers... think about Ahsoka, also 12-14 in season 2 of CW, who also beat Bane. Bane is cocky because he's up there with the top dogs, so he doesn't worry too much about the little girls. I actually appreciated that he was here, because he's a bounty hunter. He's gonna go after bounties. And he likes competing/proving he's the best. He kinda faaaades out of the picture after the Box arc in the CW, and yes he goes back to jail, but is that stopping him? Absolutely not. He's getting out of there in minutes. And yeah, he doesn't learn his lesson. He's gonna go kidnap more smol children. So while it wasn't the greatest use of Bane, I don't hate his cameo.
Okay, so that actually turned out pretty long, thanks for bearing with me, sorry if I spoiled everything for you. LET ME KNOW if I forgot anyone that you want me to rant about anymore, or if there's anything else you want to hear my opinion on.
Thanks bye.
